Our Search for a Builder

“When we decided to build our home, we knew that we wanted a lot of open space, cathedral ceilings, window walls so that we could look into the woods, high quality construction, and an aesthetically beautiful home - all, of course, at a reasonable cost.

After looking at several homes that Tim Behler (owner and founder of TimbeRoof Post and Beam) had built, we knew that we had found our builder and that a timber frame house would fulfill all of our expectations for quality, beauty and cost. The TimbeRoof system allowed us the flexibility of design, volume of space, expanses of window-walls, sturdy, hand-crafted construction and a hands-on teamwork approach that made building our home such a joy.”

Planning, Process, Perfection

“As we met with Tim, showed him our ideas and explained our hopes for the house, he continued to draw and revise the plans until we had a house we loved on paper. Obviously design flexibility was crucial. We started with large open spaces on two floors and were able to determine with Tim where the interior walls, fireplace, bathrooms, bookcases and other design elements fit into the TimbeRoof design of our home. The post-and-beam style gave us the freedom to innovate and place windows, decks and other features of the house in the most advantageous positions for views of the sunset, mountains and valley.

The day the roof system was built was such a thrill! We arrived on-site to see huge pine beams, hand-crafted by TimbeRoof, arching into the sky. We could see then that our house would be sturdy and strong as well as beautiful.

Cooperative effort is what TimbeRoof is all about and we were part of the process all of the way. A TimbeRoof post-and-beam house compliments all styles of decorating; the lines are so pure and clean that everything looks good against the backdrop of soaring ceilings, beautiful wood and walls of glass. Decorating has been fun because TimbeRoof construction is naturally beautiful, mellow and relaxing to live in.”

A Builder Who Suited Our Needs

TimbeRoof Post and Beam exceeded our expectations in building our home. Tim’s is an honest, straightforward, dependable system of building a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, easy-to-live-in home at a reasonable cost. We love "looking through" our house from front to back via the huge glass walls and we are comfortable living in a modestly-sized house because of the volume of the rooms with their soaring ceilings and exposed beams. We love the variety of lighting systems (track, recessed, chandeliers, sconces, etc.) and we marvel at our stone fireplace wall, which is built all the way to the roofline We enjoy the visual treats of unusual angles, built-in bookcases, and decks which put us into the treetops.

We would recommend TimbeRoof Post and Beam to anyone planning to build a home. It was a pleasure to work with Tim Behler and his design concepts are workable, flexible, dependable and beautiful.

Mountain Resort

The house you designed and built for us speaks eloquently for itself. You not only accommodated our concerns about sitting and view; the design of the house is spectacular and the construction has proven to be meticulous during the time we have occupied it. There cannot be many places on the mountain that get more wind or worse weather than we do; yet the house is so tight and well insulated that we have never felt drafts in any part of the house, even on the coldest, windiest days.
